Director’s Message

The J. Walter Cameron Center is the place where Maui’s families can reach eighteen resident agencies all in one location. Every year more than 200 community organizations use the affordably priced meeting facilities. In many communities, a place like the Cameron Center is still a dream.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers we thank you for your continued support through donations and contributions as well your participation in the Golf Tournament of Champions at Kapalua. Your gifts help maintain our ability to provide a place of hope for the special people of Maui.

    Jeffrey Ueoka

    PRESIDENT

    Read Bio

    Jeff is a partner at Wells Street Law, LLLC. He served as the County of Maui's Deputy Corporation Counsel from 2007 to December 2019.

    Ueoka received his law degree from the University of Hawai'i's William S. Richardson School of Law in 2005. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington in 2002.

    From 2006-2007, he was a Judicial Law Clerk and clerked for Judge Joseph E. Cardoza on Maui.

    Royce Fukuroku

    VICE PRESIDENT

    Read Bio

    Royce Fukuroku, Vice President, Central Pacific Bank, Maui Commercial Banking Assistant Manager, has been appointed to the J. Walter Cameron Center's Board of Directors. His appointment was announced by Cesar Gaxiola, Executive Director, J. Walter Cameron Center. Announcing the appointment, Cesar Gaxiola said, "We are fortunate to have Mr. Fukuroka join our board. With his financial services knowledge and wide background in the community, we look forward to his insights and experience."

    He also serves as a Board Member for Maui Family YMCA and the Academy of Finance at Maui High School.

    Joyce Tamori

    TREASURER

    Read Bio

    Joyce currently works for Hawaii Health Systems Corporation as its Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. She was previously the VP and CFO for Maui Health System since its transition to the Maui region hospitals back in July 2017 and worked for 14 years at Hale Makua Health Services, seven of which as its CFO. Joyce is also co-owner of Longevity Health Center, an integrative healthcare clinic.

    Denise Thayer

    Read Bio

    Denise has over 20 years in her professional career, 12 years in which she led Hale Makua Health Service’s development team in all aspects of fund development. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in marketing from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa and is currently the Chief of Development/Communications Officer at Maui County FCU.

    Hideo Kawahara

    Hideo Kawahara is presently an Engineering Consultant with Alexander & Baldwin Properties, Inc., a company he worked with for over 30 years.

    Tony is the former CEO of Hale Makua Health Services. He is a highly analytical healthcare management professional with over 35 years in health and acute care. He is currently the Resource Specialist for Maui County’s Office on Aging.

    Lianne received a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management through UH Manoa, and is a graduate of the Ka Ipu Kukui Fellows Program. She has more than 20 years of professional experience and holds SHRM-SCP, and SPHR human resource certifications. Lianne is a HR Solutions Provider and Owner of Pono Supportive Solutions of Maui, LLC.

    Georgianne "Gigi" Brown

    ​Georgianne "Gigi" Brown, a native of Arizona and a resident of Maui for the past 8 years, brings a diverse background in management, education, team development, customer service, and sales to her new role as Board Director for the Cameron Center. Gigi's current position as Local Leasing Manager at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center highlights her commitment to supporting small businesses and non-profit groups by providing guidance and a brick-and-mortar location to drive business and visibility in Maui's largest shopping center. With a passion for helping others achieve commercial real estate and growth goals, Gigi's dedication and drive extend from sports to the business world, making her a valuable addition to the Cameron Center's Board of Directors.​

    As an advisor with WestPac Wealth Partners, I feel that I have accomplished a lot, and helped many professionals and business owners in my professional career; My idea of success comes from helping other people create their best life. I enjoy networking and making meaningful connections. I work closely with each of my clients to customize a plan that will work with their specific lifestyle and coach my clients to live their dreams. I have truly been blessed. And I believe in giving back to the community and especially people less fortunate. I serve on different non-profit boards and am active in Rotary International. In 2018, we moved to Maui to open the office on this beautiful Valley Isle and consider ourselves fortunate to be a part of this wonderful community. I have a multicultural background as I was born in Hawaii and spent my elementary school years in Europe. I love to travel and learn about different people and cultures, play soccer, golf, surf, hike, and spend time with friends and family. I am grateful to have an amazing and supportive family: my beautiful wife Amy, son Luca, triplets Maia, Matthias, and Marley, son Milo, and my newest daughter Isla.

    Craig is the CEO of the Wailuku Federal Credit Union and has over 25 years of experience in accounting and finance. He holds a BBA in accounting from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Born and raised on Maui, he enjoys giving back to the community.

    With over two decades of commitment to Maui's environmental and community sustainability, Fiona brings a wealth of expertise as a licensed professional engineer specializing in civil and environmental engineering. As the Pacific Area Water Resources Practice Leader at Brown and Caldwell, she actively champions initiatives to enhance water quality and quantity, fostering strong community ties to Hawaii's invaluable water resources. Fiona's extensive involvement in organizations like the Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers, Maui County Hawaiian Canoe Association, and Hawaii Public Radio underscores her dedication to making a positive impact on Maui's local communities.

    Stephen Bennett

    Originally from Palos Verdes, California, Stephen graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelors degree in psychology with a minor in public health administration. He also holds a masters degree in counseling psychology from Grand Canyon University.

    Stephen spent 15 years working in human services specializing in youth counseling, education, and athletics programs. He served as a Senior Director in the largest network of afterschool programs in Staten Island, New York and was a member of both the Borough President’s Education Advisory Board and Substance Abuse Task Force. A Maui resident since 2005, Stephen has served the local community training foster parents and counseling youth through Maui Youth & Family Services Emergency Shelter and Therapeutic Foster Care Programs and served as Director of Operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui. Stephen is currently President of Trilogy Excursions.

    Ryan Ouye

    Ryan Ouye is the CEO and President of Service Rentals Hawaii, a premier equipment rental company with locations across Maui, Kauai, Oahu, and Hawaii Island. Having worked in the family business since his high school summers, Ryan developed a strong work ethic under the guidance of his father, Richard Ouye, who founded the company in 1972.

    After earning his degree at Long Beach State, Ryan returned to Maui to join the family enterprise, steadily growing into leadership. Today, he oversees a thriving business with 64 employees, a vast inventory of construction equipment, and a commitment to exceptional service.

    Ryan credits his father’s entrepreneurial spirit and his own dedication to maintaining the company’s success. Under his leadership, Service Rentals has expanded its operations statewide, ensuring it remains a trusted resource for construction, landscaping, and event needs.

    Through hard work, adaptability, and a deep connection to the community, Ryan exemplifies the values that have made Service Rentals a cornerstone of Hawaii’s industries.
