A program of the Fun Day Foundation, A Keiki’s Dream (AKD) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization formed in 1990 to serve Maui County’s children in crisis. AKD works to empower children in crisis to dare to dream, and remind everyone that each child is someone special.
AKD provides dreams to children between the ages of 4 and 15 who face a crisis of any nature. Crises may include abuse, neglect, homelessness, medical problems, psychological issues, personal loss or family difficulties. Children are referred through qualified social services programs and professionals who serve children in Maui County.
Dreams offer children an individualized experience of their choice. This child-directed approach validates the child’s self-worth, helping them regain enthusiasm and hope for their future. A Keiki’s Dream encourages each child to “Dare to Dream.”
